Dr. Kendrick B. Roberson
National Vice President of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE)
Dr. Kendrick B. Roberson is a National Vice President of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE). He oversees AFGE’s Civil Rights Arm, which houses AFGE’s Women’s Department, as well as AFGE’s Fair Practices Department.
In his role, Dr. Roberson leads a team of attorneys that represent Federal and DC employees nationwide who face employment discrimination based on their identities. Dr. Roberson was elected in August of 2024, and since that time, Dr. Roberson’s department has already secured hundreds of thousands of dollars in settlements to federal and DC workers.
In 2010, at the age of 19, Dr. Roberson began working for the Space and Missile Systems Center, headquartered at Los Angeles Air Force Base. After years of hard work, he became the lead cost analyst for three satellite and space programs with costs totaling over $1 billion. That is where he joined the union and became a fierce advocate for worker, civil, and human rights.
Previously, Dr. Roberson was the Chair of AFGE’s National YOUNG Committee, representing and organizing employees who were 40 and under. Dr. Roberson also co-founded AFGE’s first-ever Black constituency group. And after receiving his Doctorate degree from the University of Southern California (USC), Dr. Roberson became a professor of politics and labor at UCLA and at Pepperdine University.
In the Labor Studies department at UCLA, Dr. Roberson teaches a Black Labor class entitle, "We Gone Be Alright: Developing the Next Generation of Black Labor Organizers."
Dr. Roberson is now 33 years old.
