Arc Bridges Workers in Gary Continue Fight For Fairness and a First Union Contract - Please Join Our Picket On July 3rd!

On Thursday, July 3, 2008 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. workers at Arc Bridges, Inc. will conduct informational picketing at the company's main office located at 2650 W 35th Ave, Gary, Indiana.

Arc Bridges provides residential living for individuals with developmental disabilities in thirty-four group residences, in client's homes, as well as client training and workshops at its four Day Services centers in Gary, Hobart, Highland and Crown Point. The 260 workers at Arc Bridges are members of the American Federation of Professionals/UE Local 1123 and have been struggling to negotiate their first contact with management since 2006. The workers earn an average hourly wage of just $9.00. More than 70 percent of the workers toil without health insurance benefits. The workers will be protesting management's continued stalling on negotiating a fair union contract.
