Join hundreds of hotel workers, JWJ, and other community allies on the anniversary of their strike. In front of the Congress Hotel, Congress and Michigan Avenues.
Members of UNITE HERE Local 1 working at the Congress Hotel went on strike in 2003 when the hotel froze wages and slashed benefits.
Now the longest active strike in the country, their stand shows how far hotel workers have come. While the Congress Hotel still pays less than $9 an hour, union housekeepers make almost $14 an hour. The courage of the Congress Hotel strikers has been key to all hotel workers' struggle to raise standards in their industry.
