There is nothing else like the JWJ National Conference. For over a decade, it has been the meeting place for new and veteran activists at the heart of the fight for workers' rights. Have you been to one? In 2005, over 70 Chicago-area activists went to St. Louis for the last National Conference. Through workshops, planning sessions, and celebrations, we found the hope and energy to keep fighting, even in the middle of Bush's anti-worker, pro-war regime.
Now it's your chance. The JWJ National Conference is this May 2nd through 4th in Providence, Rhode Island, and over a thousand participants are expected. Do you want to hear how workers are fighting everyday for their rights and their future? Do you need to feel the pulse of the movements for health care justice, global justice, immigrants rights, and community power? Chicago JWJ wants to help put Chicago's issues and the unique ways we've responded on this national stage, and to learn with activists from across the country. Will you join our Chicago delegation to the National Conference this May?
It doesn't take a lot to go but we need to start getting ready now. Here are some key steps:
You can expect to learn a lot, find new comrades and connect with old friends, and to come back ready to build a movement for jobs with justice in Chicago. You can stick to the issues you're active in, whether it's day laborers, health care policy, or student organizing. Or you can find out more about how other fights, like trade and migration , and new organizing strategies can be important to your own work. If you register now and get in touch with Chicago JWJ, you can also help build a Chicago delegation that can come back better prepared to support each other's campaigns.
Change is on everyone's mind. Are you ready to make it happen? Join us at JWJ National Conference to help plan how we're going to do it. Tell us you're going and whether you can help build the delegation or have any questions.
