Chicago Jobs with Justice is organizing the unemployed! We meet weekly and conducts events and organizing to demand the following:

  1. Benefits for the Duration

    • Immediate 12 month extension and expansion of eligibility for jobless benefits (unemployment, food assistance and COBRA.)
    • Immediate financial assistance to states to support these programs and prevent further job loss in the public sector and preserve human services, including mandating that banks lend to states and municipalities at the same rate they receive money from the fed!
  2. Jobs for the Nation

    • A federal jobs program to rebuild our economy and our cities.
  3. Tax Wall Street Speculation

    • Enact a tax on financial speculation to pay for job creation so the economy can recover

What we do:

  • Canvass Unemployment Offices
    • You can find a video about one of these excursions at the bottom of this page.
  • Meet with Legislators
  • Host Community Meetings
  • Organize candidate forums
  • Hold demonstrations for jobs, benefits and to hold Wall Street accountable

We are workers from the private and public sector, union and non-union, white, pink and blue collar.
