Day 1 of Teachers Strike in Chicago!
Chicago Jobs with Justice Hosts Community Meeting on the Fight for Quality, Public Education on the Southeast Side TONIGHT!
Chicago-More than 29,000 members of the Chicago Teachers Union are on the strike
lines as of 5 AM this morning all over the City of Chicago. Tonight, Chicago Jobs with
Justice will host a community meeting at the East Side United Methodist Church at
11000 S. Ewing. The meeting will offer parents and community members the
opportunity to ask questions and be heard. Representatives of the Chicago Teachers
Union will also be present. The Chicago Jobs with Justice Workers Rights Board will
hear the testimonies of parents, teachers and community members and offer up its
support for quality, public education in Chicago.

When: Monday September 10th at 6 PM
Where: East Side United Methodist Church, 11000 S. Ewing
Why: Today the teachers walked out of classrooms and hit the picket lines. This
meeting will offer up the chance for teachers, parents and community to come together
and learn about what’s at stake in this strike and how we can fight to preserve quality
public education in Chicago.
