Internship: Community Organizing
Schedule: 15 hours per week
This is an unpaid position.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required.
The mission of Chicago Jobs with Justice is to build a strong and progressive labor movement that works in coalition with faith, community and student organizations to win important fights for worker rights and social justice.
Chicago Jobs with Justice is seeking an intern to learn the art and science of community organizing. Community organizing has been credited as the powerful weapon behind the successful Obama presidential campaign. You can learn these skills and apply them to whatever path you take in life.
You will learn how to have an effective organizing conversation, design a campaign, craft and promote effective messaging, implement campaigns and acquire deep knowledge of Chicago, Illinois and labor union history and politics. Experience in these areas preferred. You will make an essential and measurable contribution to our capacity to effect change in the lives of working families.
