Brothers and Sisters- Join with Chicago Jobs with Justice and the Warehouse Workers for Justice to demand Walmart rectify the firing of 65 workers under the company's Standards for Suppliers and Statement of Ethics policies. After working a full shift on December 29, 2011 sixty-five workers at the massive Walmart warehouse in Elwood, IL were informed they would lose their jobs effective immediately. Walmart’s warehouse operator, Schnieder Logistics, cancelled the contract with the temp agency, Eclipse Staffing, that employed the workers after they sued to recover stolen wages.

See labornotes.org/conference for articles and English/Spanish flyers. ----------------------- Expected to attract about 1,500 union members and supporters, Labor Notes has for decades played an essential role in networking rank-and-file activists who are the backbone of the unions--people who are committed to building a fighting, democratic labor movement. This year, several Chicago unions are sponsoring members' attendance at the event, including Amalgamated Transit Union Local 241, Teamsters Local 705 and the Chicago Teachers Union. Similar support may be available from other unions--it's worth checking out. And by bringing groups to the conference from the same workplace and union, it's easier to take the lessons from workshops and discussion back to the shop floor. Below is the e-mail from Labor Notes that explains conference details. Lee Sustar, for the Occupy Chicago Labor Working Group
